Overview
Kimley-Horn’s Twin Cities office is seeking a Power Studies Engineer with 4+years experienceto join their Electrical team.With a focus on serving clients within thepower delivery andrenewable energy sectors, the Power Studies Engineer will act as a technical expert in thedesign, analysis,and optimization of electrical power systems. This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities
Support the power electrical teamtoanalyze systems, createsoftwaremodels, andwritereports forpower delivery or generation projects
Assistwith project design, specifications, and planssupport
Review workwith quality in mindtoconfirmcompliance withKimley-Hornqualitystandards
Studies performed may include (per candidateexperience):
Arc Flash, Short Circuit, and Coordination studies using ETAP or SKM
Load Flow / Reactive Power Analysis
Thermal Ampacity studies using software likeAmpCalcorCYMCAP
Grounding studies usingWinIGS,CDEGS,or SKM Ground Mat
Transient studies usingPSS/E, PSCAD, or PSLF
Harmonicstudies using ETAP or transient software
Relaysetting development using SELAcSELerator
Partner withthe electrical team to createcalculationsanddrawingsfor power delivery and/or renewable energy projects
Continually gainknowledgein industry
Qualifications
4+ years’ experience as an Electrical Engineer for an engineering firm or EPC
1+ years' project management experience
EIT certification or path to move towards certification ispreferred
CYMCAP,SKM, ETAP, EMTP-RV, PSS/E, PSCAD,WinIGS,or CDEGSexperiencepreferred
Understandingor willing to learn, the NEC 2020 and IEEE standards and keep up with emergingtechnologies
General understanding of engineering and energy systems
Load Flow,Coordination, Short Circuit, and Arc Flash studies basic theory andmethodology
Proficiencyusing Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD)
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Ability to work and manage several project teamsconcurrently
The ability to work independently or in a team environmenteffectively
The ability to work in a fast-paced, challengingenvironment
